From Upnor on the River Medway we coast hopped via Ramsgate, Dover, Eastbourne, Brighton, Southampton and Cowes to Dartmouth
Left Dartmouth for NW Spain with the five day forecast of a good northerly breeze.
Two days out the wind came in from the SW, steadily increasing to a point where we set the storm jib, and the tri-sail. The weather deteriorated further and we endured steady 40 -45 knots of wind, gusting regularly up to 55 knots. The seas were very large.
A total of three and a half days under full storm canvas. The yacht was very wet inside, we had a cockpit full on a number of occasions.
We arrived at La Corunna North West Spain on the 24th. It took us 3 days to wash out and then dry the yacht. Left for Gibraltar on the 27th and struggled through dense fog for 180 NM off Portugal.
We made Tarifa on the 3rd of May and were stormbound for 2 and a half days, and finally arrived in Gibraltar on the 6th May.
