This was a yacht that I delivered from Falmouth to Mahon in 1998 for the then new owner. H wanted a change of cruising ground, so he asked me to take the boat to Punta Ala, which is on mainland Italy just opposite the island of Elba.
From Mahon up to Bonifacio, Corsica, a truly spectacular sight as you approach from the sea, and a lovely place to visit!
After an overnight stop we sailed through the Bonifacio strait (between Corsica and Sardinia), and up the Corsican coast. Then across past Montecristo Island and the island of Elba to the very pleasant marina at Punta Ala.
This was fairly early in the year, but the weather was wonderful all the way, and we enjoyed a very good sail.
