We left Shamrock quay with in a strong South Westerly breeze, which faded to light airs across the Bay of Biscay to Bayonne.From there we encountered some very lively north westerlys (30 - 35 knots) which blew us down the Portuguese coast and part way across the Bay of Cadiz. We sheltered in Gibraltar for two days while a gale blew through.
Then back to the very light airs as we made our way north to Mahon (Minorca) and then on to the southern tip of Sardinia. We had a real slog into some strong headwinds between there and Palermo, where we refueled before going on to Milazzo.
We were blown through the Messina strait by some strong Northerly winds, which prevailed as we sailed across the Ionian sea to the Greek islands, and on through the Corinth Canal.
From Corinth across to Khios and then onto Cesme on the South West coast of Turkey, then on up the West coast of Turkey and into Istanbul.
